Technique Seminar: The Tubular Bind Off

A tubular bind off makes a wonderful edge for 1x1 or 2x2 ribbing.  It’s elastic, flows continuously from the ribbing stitches, and is an identical match to the tubular cast on.  This class will discuss the technique for both 1x1 and 2x2 ribbing.  It’s the perfect ending for a polished sweater!

What We’ll Cover: Tubular bind off for 1x1 and 2x2 ribbing and some variations

Prerequisite Techniques: Comfortable with knitting and purling.  Experience with grafting will be helpful.

Class Materials: A piece with a 1x1 or 2x2 ribbed edge ready to be bound off (a swatch is fine) with the yarn still attached, knitting needles appropriate for the yarn, scissors, and a tapestry or yarn needle

Homework: Bring a piece with a 1x1 or 2x2 ribbed edge ready to be bound off.  This could be a swatch at least 25 stitches wide and 2 inches long.
