You know how to knit, but have you ever wondered why knitting works as it does, or how to improve your knitting skills?  In this Technique Along, we’ll explore the answers to these questions as we deep-dive into the “why” of knitting.  Your knitting will improve as we explore how knits and purls behave, understanding gauge, how to select cast ons and bind offs for a project, why increases and decreases look as they do, and finishing techniques that will give your project a professional appearance.

This class isn’t about how to do these techniques, but how to do them well.

What We’ll Cover: How to knit and purl better, working in pattern, measuring and understanding gauge, increases and decreases, cast ons and bind offs, and finishing techniques

Prerequisite Techniques: A strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to get into the details with your knitting

Class Materials: Light-colored DK or worsted weight yarn for swatches, preferably non-superwash, needles appropriate for your yarn, and a copy of Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks.  Recommended but not required: Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks: The Official Workbook (affiliate links).
